The AAP Executive team is formed from some of the most experienced and talented media and business professionals in Australia. With varied backgrounds and expertise in the fields of business, media and publishing, the Executive team lays the foundation for what AAP is today and will be tomorrow.
Chief Executive Officer
Bruce began his career as a cadet journalist in regional Victoria before moving to community newspapers in Melbourne and a stint in the UK.
He joined the Herald and Weekly Times in Melbourne in 1980, where he was a sub-editor on the-then afternoon daily The Herald.
He moved to the Sun News-Pictorial in 1985, and served in several senior editorial roles, including the News Editor and Features Editor. He was also the founding Deputy Editor of the Sunday Sun, now the Sunday Herald Sun. Bruce formed Pagemasters, a page-ready solutions provider in 1991.
In 2002, Pagemasters was acquired by AAP, and Bruce stayed on as Managing Director until his appointment as AAP CEO. Bruce has been with AAP for 10 years and currently sits on the AAP, Pagemasters and Pagemasters NZ boards.

Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Company Secretary
Robert first worked as an auditor with Coopers and Lybrand.
He worked across chartered finance, advertising and engineering before joining AAP in 2001. Robert is responsible for finance, legal, HR, and IT and is involved in all aspects of the AAP group operations including strategy and business planning.
Robert has a Bachelor of Applied Economics (Hons), is a Certified Practicing Accountant and is a Fellow of the Chartered Secretaries of Australia.
Robert sits on the AAP, AAP NZ Pagemasters and Media Research Group boards.

Chief Technology Officer
Brook began his career in media and publishing when he joined the editorial and production business Pagemasters five years before it was acquired by AAP in 2002.
As Managing Editor, Brook helped to drive a succession of key projects and helped establish Pagemasters' reputation as a world leader in publishing solutions. In 2010, Brook took up a business development role to support rapid growth at Pagemasters, before moving to AAP as Strategic Initiatives Manager.
He is now responsible for transformation across the Information Technology division and for supporting all parts of the AAP Group.

Tony Gillies joined AAP as Editor-in-Chief in January 2004 having spent 25 years in various editing and group roles with Rural Press, Fairfax and News Limited.
Tony was appointed with a mandate to bring the news agency closer to its subscribers and aid them in their transition into the digital era.
Under his leadership AAP has become a multi-media agency. Reporters take photos, capture audio and shoot video; photographers shoot video; video journalists and presenters produce features and bulletins; while artists lead the way on interactive graphics. The news production desk is now fully integrated, serving all media.
In addition to editorial responsibility Tony has had full revenue accountability for the AAP Newswire since 2008.

Managing Director – The Media Research Group and Medianet
Michael began his career in the Royal Australia Navy before undertaking communications roles in both Australia and the UK.
After four years at one of Australia’s leading public affairs consultancies, he was awarded a scholarship and appointed the Senior Graduate Research Fellow at the American University School of Communication in Washington DC where he completed his Masters in Communication
Upon his return to Australia, Michael established the Media Research Group (MRG) in 1997.
MRG became one of Australia’s leading media monitoring companies working for large state and federal government departments, blue chip-corporates and not-for-profit organisations and employed more than 40 staff.
MRG was acquired by AAP in 2007 and Michael stayed on as Managing Director and assumed responsibility for the Medianet business in 2013.

Managing Director - Pagemasters
Peter has responsibility for all Pagemasters businesses in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Peter, a journalist for more than 30 years, started his career in Queensland regional newspapers and included two decades with News Limited, where he held a number of senior editorial positions including Associate Editor and Chief of Staff of Queensland’s Sunday Mail and Assistant Editor of Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.
Peter joined Pagemasters as a Managing Editor in 2009, first helping set up the company's Brisbane operation which now employs more than 30 journalists and designs and sub-edits up to 500 pages per week for features sections of Fairfax metropolitan mastheads.
He was appointed Pagemasters Managing Director in May 2012.

Group Sales Director
Amrita has responsibility for strategic planning, leadership and support for all sales activity across the AAP Group.
Amrita joined AAP in June 2009 as part of the Newswire commercial team and has held a number of sales related roles including Group Sales Manager and more recently Commercial Manager Media Services where Amrita oversaw the commercial direction, growth and negotiation of all Newswire products. With over a decade of experience in the media industry that includes roles at Bauer Magazines and Focus Publishing Amrita believes in a solutions-based, collaborative approach to clients and is dedicated to exploring and enhancing commercial partnerships.
