WHAT WAS CLAIMED

Donald Trump has warned "Airbus Albanese" about free speech on Truth Social.

OUR VERDICT

False. The Truth Social post is a fake.

AAP FACTCHECK - Another fake post supposedly from Donald Trump warning Anthony Albanese about free speech is being shared online.

But the US president did not publish the post on his Truth Social profile.

In the apparently satirical post, Donald Trump calls the Australian prime minister "Airbus Albanese" and refers to their cancelled G7 meeting.

"NOW does is make sense why I cancelled my meeting with Anthony 'Airbus' Albanese, PM of Australia!?" the supposed Truth Social post reads.

"Much BIGGER fish to fry!! Anthony will get his time with me. He would be smart to agree to the CONDITIONS of free speech. See what happens when you DON'T. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

A screenshot of the fake post appeared on X on June 22, 2025, followed by multiple posts on Facebook.

The federal opposition dubbed Mr Albanese as "Airbus Albo" following Labor's 2022 election victory, in a bid to citicise his overseas diplomatic trips.

The reference to free speech also comes after former Trump confidant Elon Musk criticised Mr Albanese over his government's proposed social media ban for children under 16.

AAP FactCheck has previously debunked fake Truth Social posts from the same X user who made the original post.

Both posts have similarities to an authentic Truth Social post from Trump, such as the pink verified tick - but in this post, as with the others, the font differs from the platform's regular script.

A search of Mr Trump's Truth Social profile shows that he did not make a post resembling the one in the screenshot posted on X.

There is also no record of such a post on Trump's Truth, an independent web archive of his Truth Social posts.

A Google search also failed to turn up any credible media reports of such a post by Trump, or any comments resembling the tone or content of the post.

A similar fake Truth Social post calling the PM "Airbus Albanese" was also recently debunked by AAP FactCheck.
